About THE Authors

LaShone L. Grimes and Bessie L. Ferguson are mother and daughter authors from Savannah, Georgia. LaShone Grimes has a Bachelor of Science in Early Elementary Education from Armstrong State College (now Georgia Southern University) and a Master’s in Public Administration from Savannah State University. She is also the author of an empowerment book titled, More Than a Pretty Face: Empowering Women to Love and Value Their Inner Beauty. It motivates and empowers women and teen girls to maintain their self–confidence.  Additionally, LaShone is the First Lady of Maranatha Church International with her husband, Pastor Wayne Grimes.

Bessie L. Ferguson has a Bachelor of Science/Master’s of Early Elementary Education with a specialty in reading from Savannah State College (now Savannah State University). She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Maranatha Church International.

As educators, LaShone and Bessie always had a burning desire to encourage all children worldwide to read. They love children and want to inspire them to dream big beyond the ordinary. It will happen. Maya Angelou eloquently shares with us that “any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him.”

Dreams come true by working together as a team. Bumblebees on the Run was designed to motivate and educate children about the 40 Dolch Pre – Primer Sight Vocabulary Words. The mastery of the 40 words will help them to become excellent readers, ignite a passion for reading books, and allow children to explore the world.

***Also we are proud to announce that our "Buzzing with Reading Initiative for children has launched this year. This year we are seeking "literacy sponsors" to fund our goal to donate over 1,000 Bumblebees on the Run books to PreK-1st graders in Chatham County. Books will be donated to the Wesley Community Center, Windy's Preschool, the Early learning Center at Henderson E. Formey Jr. School, Butler Elementary School and Gadsden Elementary School.
